Set in five hectares of gardens in the Fiesole hills above Florence, Il Salviatino is a sensitively restored fifteenth-century villa with 19th-century frescoes, antique bathtubs and just 39 individually designed rooms overlooking the city or the Tuscan countryside. A greenhouse spa and hourly shuttle to the centre complete the retreat. A villa stay of real heritage and craft, not generic resort luxury.
