San Teodoro

An east-coast beach resort between dune and lagoon, mixing summer nightlife with chef-signed lagoon dining.

San Teodoro grew from a quiet Gallura hamlet into one of the east coast's busiest summer resorts, strung between the long white beach of La Cinta and the flamingo-flecked Stagno lagoon behind it. The crowd is younger and more nightlife-driven than the Costa Smeralda — beach clubs, a packed corso in August — but the better kitchens hold a higher line, including chef-signed dining built on the lagoon's mullet, sea bass and clams. Off-season it reverts to a low-rise village where the dunes and the wetland birds outnumber the diners. It pairs easy beach hedonism with a couple of tables that genuinely reward the detour.
