Innere Stadt
One Michelin star in the Innere Stadt, pan-Asian fine dining since 2009.
One Michelin star + Green Star, Europe's leading vegetarian fine-dining room.
Tian opened in 2011 on Himmelpfortgasse in the Innere Stadt and has held one Michelin star plus a Michelin Green Star (sustainability) every year since the recognition was introduced. The room is the most ambitious vegetarian project in central Europe, six- and eight-course tasting menus built around the kitchen garden the team runs in Lower Austria and a network of small biodynamic growers. There is a wine and a non-alcoholic pairing; the latter is the rarer achievement and is itself worth the booking. Service is unfussy, the room low-lit and modern. The crowd here uses Tian for the dinner that argues against the assumption that vegetable cooking is a compromise.
The non-alcoholic pairing is the differentiator, ask for it explicitly when booking. Tian Bistro on Spittelberg in Neubau is the casual sister and the lunch-not-dinner option.
