Bürgerhaus Glockenbachwerkstatt
Glockenbachviertel
Munich's oldest civic-house, beer garden, blues nights, poetry slams since 1979
Reichenbachstrasse dive, red walls, dim lights, hipster shrine
A pocket-sized bar on Reichenbachstrasse that has been pulling Glockenbach's after-eleven crowd for decades. Red walls, dim filament bulbs, room for maybe thirty people if everyone breathes in. There is no cocktail program to speak of, beer, wine, simple highballs, but the conversation is the point: when nobody can avoid eye contact, strangers talk. Best entered after dinner around the corner, best left after one more than you planned.
No reservations, no menu, no credit cards in your face. Cash, charm, patience. Go after 22:30.
