Castor Club
Saint-Germain & Saint-Sulpice
Saint-Germain hunting-lodge speakeasy by Thomas Codsi, Le Fooding-listed, weekend basement DJ floor.
République speakeasy hidden behind a working laundromat, push the right washing-machine door, climb the staircase.
Lavomatic opened in 2015 behind the façade of a real, functioning self-service laundromat on rue René Boulanger, one of the washing machines is the door, and the staircase behind it climbs to a low-ceilinged 1980s-styled room with indoor swings, detergent-bottle stools and one of the more inventive cocktail programmes in the 10e. The cocktails lean playfully (the Pirouette and the Oh Mon Shu are the signatures); the kitchen sends out small plates that pair without trying to be a restaurant. No reservations, fills by 22:00 on weekends. A Time Out, Sortiraparis and VisitParisRegion regular and one of the city's most-cited speakeasy gimmicks that has survived past the gimmick.
Walk into the laundromat at street level, the door is the washing-machine in the back. No reservations. Arrive before 21:30 on weekends or wait.
