A grill house on the corner of Platia Fanarioton since May 1977, Diagonios is where Thessalonians settle the soutzoukakia argument. The hand-shaped, charcoal-grilled kebabs come tender and unspiced with boukovo and a cool Russian or eggplant salad, alongside a finely chopped house gyro and crisp hand-cut potatoes. It sits a short walk from the White Tower yet stays firmly a local room rather than a tourist stop.
