Katz Orange
Mitte
Mitte's slow-food courtyard restaurant, the Candy Bomber pork at 12 hours.
Mitte's Syrian-fine-dining room on Torstraße, meze, lamb, the post-2015 Syrian-Berlin wave.
Yarok Fine Syrian is the Syrian-modern dining room on Torstraße in Mitte that the Hattab family opened after the 2015 arrival, the most successful of the Syrian-Berlin operations to move from the casual-Imbiss format into a sit-down room with a wine list and a kitchen running classical Syrian technique. The lamb, the muhammara, the fattoush and the seven-vegetable plate are the markers; the room is small, the kitchen open. For the audience this is the Syrian-modern register Berlin has built since 2015 that no other European capital has at the same depth.
Order the lamb-and-vegetable plate and the muhammara. The post-2015 Syrian-Berlin food wave is one of the most meaningful shifts in the city's dining scene this decade; Yarok is the address that does the sit-down register best.
