Can Ortabaş's pioneering estate where Decanter Platinum bottles and an arboretum share one ridgeline above Kuşçular
Mahrem-label reds from Italian varietals, grown organically on the grounds of Türkiye's largest racehorse stud
Ali Emin and Melis Kurtel Emin started Mozaik in 2006 with an unusually italianate brief: Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Tannat, Marselan, Petit Verdot, Rebo, Ekigaïna. Roughly 60–70,000 bottles a year leave under the Mahrem label, and the 2020 Mahrem Tannat took Decanter Gold. The vineyards sit on the same Kuşçular estate as a horse-breeding operation, an oddly aristocratic backdrop that shapes the whole tasting visit. Production is organic with minimal intervention; the wines reward patience.
Ask to taste the Mahrem Tannat and the Sangiovese back-to-back, the contrast tells you what this hillside actually does. Limited bottles; buy what you like at the cellar.
