The Audley Public House
Mayfair
Hauser & Wirth's reimagined Mayfair pub, Sunday roast under a Phyllida Barlow ceiling
Piccadilly's grand café, the Viennese-Parisian brasserie that runs from breakfast to supper
Built in 1921 as a Wolseley Motors showroom, restored by Chris Corbin and Jeremy King in 2003 as the grand café London did not realise it had been missing. Now under the rebranded Wolseley Hospitality Group, the room has held, same vaulted ceilings, same all-day service, same roster of writers, agents and visiting Istanbul cousins working the breakfast-to-supper rhythm. The bay's reader that has been to Café Central in Vienna and Le Café Marly in Paris recognises this register on first glance.
Breakfast is the booking, the kedgeree, the eggs Benedict, the proper coffee service. Cream tea 15:00 - 18:30. Sister room The Wolseley City has opened in EC4. Now part of Minor International / Wolseley Hospitality Group; the room itself is unchanged.
