Café Altschwabing
Franz Marc and Thomas Mann's old table, 1887 literary café, restored
Opened in 1887 as Munich's artist meeting point at the turn of the last century, Franz Marc and Thomas Mann were both regulars. The 115-year-old building's stucco, chandeliers and ivory-toned neoclassical Vienna-coffeehouse atmosphere were recently restored. Despite the name, the address sits on the Maxvorstadt side of Schellingstraße. All-day from breakfast through dinner.
Editor's Tip
Name is misleading, the postcode 80799 is on the Maxvorstadt side. The strongest address on the university stretch of Schellingstraße.
