The Westendstraße taverna, Greek-owned, Greek-run, no concession to anyone
The Salvator origin, Bavarian Brauhaus on the brewery's home hill
Paulaner brewed its first Salvator doppelbock on the Nockherberg in 1773, and the Brauhaus on Hochstraße remains the brewery's home wirtshaus, the same hill that hosts the Starkbierfest each Lent. The kitchen runs the Munich classics (Schweinsbraten, roast duck, Apfelstrudel) at honest portions, the self-service beer garden opens whenever the weather allows, and the upper Au location keeps the room mostly Bavarian rather than tour-bus.
Verified 2026: full operation including the seasonal beer garden. The crowd books this for the brewery story (Paulaner brewed Salvator here in 1773, the doppelbock category is named after this beer) plus a proper Schweinsbraten in the actual neighborhood.
