L'Olivo
Anacapri
Capri's only two-star table, light and luminous Mediterranean cooking
Southern Italy's first Michelin star, still keeping it
Opened in 1959 inside a 12th-century Piccolomini palace by the Arsenals, La Caravella became the first restaurant in southern Italy to win a Michelin star in 1966 and holds it to this day. The kitchen treats Amalfi's seafood, lemons and tomatoes with simple, quick technique, closing on a famous lemon soufflé. Ceramic-lined rooms double as a small art and wine museum.
Closed Tuesdays; reservations strongly advised. A genuine institution, not a tourist relic — the cooking earns the history.
