Gökyüzü has been on Grand Parade since 1999, run by the Yavuz family, and after a recent renovation it is the smartest Turkish room on the ladder: leather banquettes, big tables, a wedding-or-mevlit register that the smaller ocakbaşıs cannot host. The cooking is the broader İstanbul mainstream, the mixed-grill platter, sarma tavuk beyti, hummus and bread on the table by reflex, and a local diaspora institution exactly because it does the wide menu well rather than a narrow regional one.
