Ca'n Antuna

Roast lamb and valley views in Spain's prettiest village.
A potholed mountain road to Mallorca's famous lamb shoulder.
A whitewashed farmhouse halfway up Puig d'Alaró, reached by a rough single-track road or a ninety-minute walk past the Castell d'Alaró. The draw is one dish done supremely well: paletilla de cordero, lamb shoulder slow-roasted in a wood oven, served with roast potatoes and a simple salad. The dining room is hung with old farm tools; the views do the rest.
Arrive early — the lamb often sells out after 2pm — and only confident drivers should tackle the road up.
