Restaurant Athen
Westend-Schwanthalerhöhe
The Westendstraße taverna, Greek-owned, Greek-run, no concession to anyone
Modern Vietnamese with Asian-fusion flourishes in Glockenbach.
MAY is the Vietnamese kitchen the Glockenbach crowd actually returns to, a small family-run room on Bergmannstraße with a tight menu of pho, fresh and crispy spring rolls, a properly-spiced bun bo, and Asian-fusion plates (the viet pad thai, crispy duck) that take Vietnamese tradition as a starting point rather than a hard rule. Portions are restrained rather than enormous, plating is careful, and the cocktail list runs deeper than the standard neighbourhood Vietnamese; there's a vegetarian programme that reads as designed rather than appended. The room is small and warm, the service is genuinely friendly, and it works equally for a quick weeknight pho or a celebration dinner.
Start with the fresh summer rolls and a homemade lemonade or signature cocktail. The crispy duck is the most-ordered fusion plate; the pho is the comfort-food anchor. Small room, book ahead for weekends. The Westend location is technically a cab from Glockenbach but the closest hood-feel match.
