Belgravia
Lowndes Street's Italian institution since 1995, the Belgravia trattoria that taught London regional pasta
Langton Street's Tuscan trattoria since 1975, Chelsea's Italian family room, fourth decade
Opened in 1975 by Alvaro Maccioni on a World's End side street, La Famiglia ran for half a century as the Chelsea Italian table that the King's Road residents kept for themselves. Tuscan-leaning, walls of black-and-white photographs, a garden behind the main room that holds the summer overflow. The kitchen has not chased trends, same osso buco, same vongole, same hand-cut tagliatelle, and the audience renews itself one generation at a time. Reads in the Harry's Bar Mayfair register without the membership.
The garden is the booking in summer, request when reserving. Cash-or-card only at the bar; the room is family-run on the floor. Ten minutes from Sloane Square; Fulham Broadway tube is closer.
