Roka Charlotte Street
Fitzrovia
Rainer Becker's original 2004 robatayaki, the Charlotte Street counter Roka grew from, with Shochu Lounge in the basement
Tomos Parry's Michelin-starred Beak Street wood-fired room, the Basque grill that Brat became Soho-confident in
Mountain opened in July 2023 on Beak Street as the Soho counterpart to Tomos Parry's Shoreditch original Brat, a wood-fired Basque-leaning kitchen on the ground floor's open pass and a quieter dining room in the basement. By the 2024 Michelin Guide it had a star. The argument is the same: simple ingredients pulled through fire, turbot, lobster caldereta for the table, hand-cut chops, raw sobrassada with honey, but with a wine list run by a Spain-deep sommelier and a room that finally takes Soho seriously. The natural answer to the question of where the audience books in Soho when one Michelin star is the bar.
Book three to four weeks ahead for a weekend; mid-week 18:00 walk-ups at the counter occasionally land. Order the lobster caldereta only with four or more, it's the table dish. The basement room is quieter; the ground floor is the show.
