The Geisel family, also behind the Königshof's predecessor and the Anna Hotel, converted the top two floors of a building directly on Marienplatz into a 19-suite adults-only townhouse hotel with possibly the most theatrical view in Munich: balconies looking straight at the New Town Hall's neo-Gothic facade and the daily Glockenspiel show. Service runs on first-name terms. There is an in-house restaurant and lounge bar. Best for a couple's weekend where the room itself is the trip's centrepiece.
Editor's Tip
Town Hall-facing suites are the entire reason to book, Rindermarkt-side rooms are quieter but lose the postcard view. Adults-only, so cross it off the list if travelling with children.
