Eataly München (Schrannenhalle)
Altstadt-Lehel
The full Eataly market hall inside Munich's restored Schrannenhalle, on Viktualienmarkt.
Champagne-truffle institution since 1932, counter inside Ludwig Beck on Marienplatz.
Heinemann has run since 1932 out of Mönchengladbach and is one of the European top addresses for chocolate and patisserie; their champagne truffle, made since 1968, is the dish the house is identified with. The Munich counter sits inside Ludwig Beck on Marienplatz, Munich's department-store flagship for Bavarian and German taste, and is the only city-center stop for the kind of confectionery box you bring as a host gift or take home as a controlled luxury. Pralines, marzipan, nougat, fine cakes by the slice; the cake counter rotates daily. Open through the working week with the Ludwig Beck hours, which is the easy part.
The champagne truffle box is the one to take home, sealed presentation, survives a flight, doesn't need refrigeration for 24 hours. Combine with a coffee at Café Glockenspiel one floor up if you want the Marienplatz view.
