Old-Town wine bar with deep list and sensible pricing
World's Best Wine Bar 2025, 900 wines by the glass via Coravin
Canadian sommelier and best-selling author Justin Leone moved to Munich in 2011 and quietly built what World of Fine Wine named the World's Best Wine Bar in 2025. The trick is Coravin technology, over 900 bottles open at any moment, served in 0.1 litre pours, perfectly preserved and tempered, from regions and vintages that no by-the-glass programme on earth comes close to. A Schwabing courtyard space, low-key lighting, music selected by a working musician (Justin himself), and a list that reads like a graduate seminar in terroir. You can taste a Burgundy grand cru, an Austrian Riesling and a small-grower Champagne for the price of one bottle elsewhere. Reservations strongly advised, the room is small, the cult is large.
Tell Justin (or whoever is on the floor) what you've been drinking lately and let them build a flight. The point is to taste things you'd never order whole, a 1990s Bordeaux next to a natural Loire next to a Mosel Spätlese.
